and Highlanders – when they face unbeaten Masvingo United in a Castle Lager Premiership at Rufaro this afternoon.
The Green Machine roasted Chicken Inn 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday to move back top of the table.
Bosso came to the capital and edged Shooting Stars 1-0 to stay on track.
Now, Dynamos have to respond and pressure is clearly on the blue half of the capital as they host Masvingo at Rufaro today.
Masvingo United coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere believes Dynamos will not be easy customers when the two sides clash.
Yuna Yuna have had a good start to the season as they are now the only team yet to lose a game in the league. Given all the challenges they have faced, in terms of funding, Masomere’s men have simply been impressive.
Dynamos, in contrast, have had a poor start to the season in which they have garnered just five points from as many games.
But the Glamour Boys could draw inspiration from their battling performance against Highlanders in Bulawayo in a goalless draw in their last league match.
The Dynamos leadership is battling to raise funds to pay their players’ salaries but, refreshingly, this group of Glamour Boys is not bent on wasting their energy on strikes and have been patient. Rightback David Kutyauripo yesterday said they were ready to face Yuna Yuna.
“We have to play and win the game at all costs,” said Kutyauripo.
Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa could find places for Denver Mukamba and Achford Gutu who didn’t play for the Young Warriors yesterday even though they spent the whole week in camp.
The two were sent off in the first leg of the All-Africa Games qualifier in Botswana.
Timire Mamvura and Devon Chafa played for the Young Warriors yesterday but Patrick Khumbula was not needed by coach Friday Phiri and spent the entire match on the bench.
Masomore said his players trained last week and he was hopeful of a fine day in the office as he faces his former team.
“We have not been carried away by the unbeaten run because we are aware that it will end at some point.
“As a team coming from Division One, we have played well for far and hope to maintain the form. At least have managed to train this week and it has come out okay,” said Masomore.
The Masvingo coach believes his team’s strength has been their unity.
“I do not have good players in my team but they are all fighters and if you have fighters then you have a good team.
“Teams will be coming into the game motivated because they want to break our fine run.
“We remain the underdogs because we are coming from Division One.
“We are coming to play Dynamos and we know it will not be an easy game for us.
“Equally it is not going to be easy for Dynamos, so I hope the game will be exciting.
“But at the end of the day we will play as a team and respect good results.”
Nomadic forward Tendai “DJ Malaika” Nyamadzawo is now at Yuna Yuna and has turned himself into one of the key players in the side.
Nyamadzawo has inside knowledge of the battles against Dynamos from his old role as a CAPS United forward.
Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa saw some of his fans turn against him the last time the Glamour Boys were at Rufaro when they drew against Hwange.
But the former DeMbare midfielder has been preaching the gospel that he can only try to change things that he can influence, and that means his players and how they should play.
He conceded last week that his team was badly in need of a reliable goal-scorer and, with the coach backing his current staff to come good, only time will tell. But there is a feeling in the Dynamos camp that this could be the game where their fortunes will change forever in the league championship and there is a strong sense of expectation in the capital.
Dynamos clearly need their supporters at Rufaro and the club chose to advertise their game against Masvingo through posters.
Whichever way you look at it, Dynamos have to win this one for the sake of peace in their camp.
