Top Gear is back

The revamped series of Top Gear airs this Sunday with a new line-up of presenters fronted by Chris Evans and Friends star Matt LeBlanc.

The first episode of the revamped car show features super cars covered in laser guns, a race across the Moroccan wilds and a UK versus USA challenge.

Footage shown of the first episode shows Evans and German racing driver Sabine Schmitz headed to the Nevada desert.

There they pit a Dodge Viper ACR against a Corvette Z06 at none other than US Naval Base Fallon, better known as the home of Top Gun, which

Evans describes as the place where “the best of the best get better”.

The pair race in their super cars, which are decked out in laser guns, and what ensues is an entertaining battle of two American muscle cars.

Viewers will also see LeBlanc testing the latest off-road offering in the form of a Nomad — a buggy made by British firm Ariel.

LeBlanc takes on three other characters as he races across the dusty plains of Morocco to try to test the Nomad to its full capacity.

Meanwhile, the much-loved but slightly shabby Top Gear test track has had a major upgrade, with a “considerably larger” budget than previous years. —liverpoolecho.co.uk
