THE curtain came down on the Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league that saw Toronto being crowned champions on the final day of the season when they walloped Main Line 3-0 at Pumula East Garage at the weekend.

Goals from Mgcinumuzi Moyo, Mncedisi Gumede and Keith Chikami propelled the Pumula-based outfit to its maiden Division One dance.

Toronto ended the season on 69 points after losing a single game, winning 20 games, drawing nine and scoring an impressive 73 goals.

With the top two teams set to be promoted, the battle now is between CIWU who are on 65 points and Ajax on 62 points who are set to face each other in a replay of their abandoned game a month ago.

The date of the re-scheduled game is yet to be released but Ajax have hinted they may not fulfil the fixture as they feel aggrieved by the Zifa disciplinary committee’s ruling.

Ajax’s promotion dream suffered a heavy blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw by a resilient Chicken Inn juniors’ side.

While Ajax were having a tough afternoon at Desert Stadium, across town at Eveline High School, CIWU were having a stroll in the park as a first half brace by Emmanuel Ndlovu set the tone for a 5-0 drubbing of Lupane State University (LSU).

The victory means CIWU will be promoted if they at least draw with Ajax in the replay.

With the number of teams to be relegated still to be confirmed, the relegation axe is hovering over Khami United and LSU, who occupy the bottom two places respectively.
