THE Trans-Limpopo Spatial Development Initiative will engage South African companies to form business partnerships with local companies in order to foster economic growth.
Trans-Limpopo Spatial Development Initiative co-chairperson Obert Sibanda told Business Chronicle that a number of companies would visit the country during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) searching for investment opportunities and partnerships.

“A number of South African companies who are working together with the Trans-Limpopo Spatial Development Initiative will be visiting the country during the trade fair and will meet local companies to see if there are any investment opportunities to forge partnerships,” said Sibanda.

He said companies from different sectors of the economy would have an opportunity to meet with the South African representatives who are willing to work with locals to boost production and trade.

“The South African companies who will be visiting represent different sectors of the economy such as mining, manufacturing, engineering, tourism and trade,” said Sibanda.

He said this would create an opportunity for local companies to form collaborations that would promote growth and competence for the locals.
“This is a great opportunity for our local companies to forge partnerships which will promote growth, competence and promote the marketing of their products,” he said.

Sibanda said they were working together with Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness among the business community of such an opportunity.
“We are advising all businesses and companies who are interested in meeting the South African investors and partners to submit their profiles at the ZNCC offices,” said Sibanda.

He said it was important that local companies attend the trade fair as it is a platform where they meet buyers, financiers, investors and potential partners. “We are encouraging companies to attend the trade fair as it is an opportunity to meet buyers, investors and potential partners to foster market and economic growth,” said Sibanda.

The TransLimpopo Spatial Development Initiative was formed in 2001 when South Africa’s Limpopo Province and Zimbabwe’s Matabeleland North and South provinces signed a bilateral economic development pact.

Some of the stakeholders in the TransLimpopo Spatial Development Initiative in Zimbabwe include the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Bulawayo City Council, Gwanda Town Council and the Zimbabwe Investment Authority.
