celebrating 100 years of service as one of the country’s leading manufacturing companies.
In a speech read recently at the company’s long service awards ceremony, the group’s managing director, Mr Peter Buckle, said the group had developed into a successful business because of the dedication shown by its various stakeholders.
“It is through hard work by shareholders, management and employees that the company has developed into the business it is today employing about 3 900 workers and becoming a well-known manufacturing company. Over the past 100 years all stakeholders have been resourceful and have risen to the challenges the company has had to face,” said Mr Buckle.
He said the company’s brand manufactured across all its divisions had become household names in Africa.
“Our brands have become household names, not only within Zimbabwe but also in the Sadc region. This has been substantiated by Kango Products receiving the Zimbabwe Exporter of the Year award by ZNCC with Monarch Steel being the runner-up. This is a grand achievement and we have accomplished this together as a team,” said Mr Buckle.
He said the company would continue to strive for excellence at all levels in all its divisions.
“The group will remain committed, efficient and productive by producing quality goods of high standard in order to maintain its position in the local and export markets,” he said.
The awards saw 119 employees receiving long service awards. These included 21 employees with over 40 years of service and 21 employees with over 35 years.
Mr Buckle said the awards demonstrated the loyalty the employees had shown to the company which had been appreciated by the company’s management which embraced the achievements.
Treger Products was founded in 1911 by the Treger family and is privately owned with its head office in Bulawayo. Its five manufacturing divisions are Kango Products, Monarch Steel, Treger Plastics, Zimbabwe Grain Bags and Treger Harare.
Through its divisions the company has become the largest manufacturer of household, cookware and appliances in Africa.
In Zimbabwe the company is one of the largest manufacturers of window frames, door frames, wheelbarrows, geysers, kitchen furniture, painted and galvanised hardware to the building and allied industries. Its products are of high quality and conform to the SAZ standards.
In a statement the company said it successfully exports its products to Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The company said it has managed to supply window frames and doorframes and other building materials to a number of housing projects in Botswana.
