Tuku, Sulu re-ignite live shows this weekend

Oliver Mtukudzi and Suluman Chimbetu will open the entertainment floodgates with a show at the Miami Nightclub in Sunningdale, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
Dubbed the “Good Year: Jazz and Sungura Musical Mix”, the show would provide revellers with a rare occasion to see two of Zimbabwe’s finest musicians, displaying their artistry in music and dance.

It will certainly be a day to remember for Tuku’s fans in Sunningdale as they will have the internationally acclaimed icon play in their backyard.
Many in the know will attest to Tuku’s growing popularity on the international map that has seen him play in several countries across the continent.

He has displayed his artistic flair, played his acoustic guitar and churn out his Kore Kore- inspired lyrics not only in Africa, but also Europe, America and in Asia, where he recently thrilled fans with his katekwe dance right in the heart of Dubai.
In between his foreign trips, Tuku did not forget his home boys back in Zimbabwe. He held a number of shows across the country.

In fact, he held most of his shows in high-density areas and in small towns and cities. This was in fulfilment of his decision to reconnect with his fans by staging shows at all venues that he used to play during the formative years of his career.

On his website Tukumusic.com, the superstar said he wanted to pay tribute to history and homage to the generous passage of time that had allowed him to achieve so much.
“It is a way of saluting people who have travelled with me and inspired me to compose during the rigorous journey of music over 35 years,” read the statement.
And it appears that he will certainly carry through his promise this year, if the shows that have since been lined up are anything to go by.
On the other hand, Sulu will be out to prove that his act has matured over the years, and should not continue to be treated as a minnow in the industry. Sulu is riding high with his new album, Non-Stop, in which he collaborated with Tuku on the song, Kwedu, which has since turned out to be a gem of a track, and is receiving its fair share of airplay.-The Herald
