ZIMBABWE off-spinner Prosper Utseya is in Johannesburg, South Africa, working on modifying his bowling action. Earlier this month, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that an independent analysis found his bowling action to be illegal, and suspended Utseya from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.

The analysis revealed that all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.

In Johannesburg, Utseya is working with South African coach Justin Summons to re-model his bowling action in accordance with ICC’s new protocol. The former Zimbabwe captain has three-hour sessions daily with Summons, for the next two weeks.

During his stay in South Africa, Utseya will play some games for Soweto Cricket Club as part of testing his new action and also to maintain his match fitness levels.

Expressing gratitude for the financial and moral support that he is receiving from ZC, Utseya said he hopes to be available for selection for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Utseya was reported after the third One-Day International against South Africa at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo in August this year. – Zimcricket
