THE Victoria Falls Road Circuit will this weekend play host to the annual Toyota Castrol Three-Hour Endurance Race and One Hour Motorcycle event which will also be the last event on the Bulawayo Motoring Club calendar. Leonora Young, a member of the organising committee said: “This famous race started in 1969, with drivers from Zimbabwe, South Africa and the United Kingdom taking part.”

The weekend winners, said Young will be awarded trophies in each class of the race. There are compulsory pit stops during the endurance races which also “throw a spanner in the works,” so to speak. This is usually when drivers switch over if they choose to share driving with others, to re-fuel or change tyres.

“Last year’s event was an action-packed day and this year promises to be even better. There is no doubt that the standard of vehicles and competitors has reached a new high and the speed and performance that is expected will thrill any motorsport enthusiast. With hopes of drivers coming from South Africa and Botswana, our local heroes will definitely have their work cut out for them,” said Young.
