JAZZ lovers in Bulawayo will today celebrate Independence Day in style at Groove Nightclub where multi-talented Victor Kunonga is scheduled to play. Kunonga, known for his soulful Chimurenga style of music that has won him awards, will be in the city for the first time this year. Kunonga released a 13-track album, Kwedu with songs, Murume Murume, Tinotenda, Wagadzirira, Kushanda, Cheuka, Kure Kwatabva, Kumagobo, Ruzevha, Mhofu, Kwedu, Ruvengo and Ikhotha Eyikhothayo.

Kunonga said fans should come and enjoy the music from his latest album Kwedu which he said has songs which will appeal to all music lovers.

“Yes we’re coming to Bulawayo and we shall be at Groove. I’m calling on all those who love music to attend the show. For those who follow my music I’ll be sampling my latest album Kwedu,” he said.

Kunonga said he was bringing along his full band for the show.

Groove Nightclub manager Dave Jacobs said he brought Kunonga because he watched him perform at South Africa’s jazz guru Hugh Masekela’s concert in Harare.

“I was impressed by what I saw during his performance last week at the Masekela concert and I felt that his live performance was something that the patrons of the club would enjoy,” he said.
