VICTORIA Falls Tigers were the biggest winners over the weekend in the Zifa Matabeleland North League race. The third-placed side powered to a 4-0 victory over Hwange side Iwisa at Chinotimba Stadium last Saturday to keep their faint title hopes alive. Tigers scored through Thabani Ndlovu (brace) and a goal apiece by Rodwell Sate and Justin Chuma.

Tempers flared in the encounter resulting in Iwisa team manager Martin “Nkife” Mwale being sent off for questioning some decisions by Victoria Falls-based referee Nobert Chikovera.

Table toppers Makomo FC consolidated their four-point lead at the top without breaking any sweat after being awarded their game against Brazil on a walk-over decision with a 3-0 score line.

The Makwika-based outfit cited transport challenges for failing to pitch up at GVZ Stadium, presenting Makomo with an early Christmas gift.
Brazil’s non-fulfilment of the match, which had a crucial bearing on Makomo and Amagagasi’s cat and mouse chase, has left them staring at bigger problems.

“As Zifa, we are not happy with Brazil’s conduct. I am warning them that their days are numbered in the league as this is their second walkover. If they miss one more game before the season ends, they are history. The team should also approach our office urgently with a payment plan for a total of $300 in fines. At the annual general meeting before the season started, we passed a resolution to form a Division Three League in 2015 and all the expelled clubs will have to start afresh from there.

“Should teams like Broncos, Rufaro and Kabwe (expelled from Division One) seek to return to football, they must first pay up all outstanding dues for them to be admitted in this new league.

“To Brazil, I say put your house in order now as time is running out,” fumed Denis Tshuma, the provincial chairperson.
Away from Brazil’s troubles, Amagagasi continued with their fight for glory at the end of the season by disarming army side Moto Moto in the resort town.

Carlos Dube (brace) and Bhekisani Ncube were on target for Amagagasi as the soldiers simply found no strategy to retaliate as their camp was being bombarded left, right and centre.

At the Colliery Stadium, Hwange Under-17 found Blackrock too hot in an exciting derby.
Mernard Manyevere and Ephanos Sibanda scored for Blackrock while Allan Ndlovu hit the nets for the youthful side.

At Madumabisa Stadium, Fire FC’s temperatures continued to cool down as they lost their third game on the trot to Prison Eagles who prevailed with a 2-0 scoreline.

Erick Sibanda and Evidence Chakasanda scored for the wardens to leave Fire FC coach Charles “Nsomba” Chuma wondering what has hit his team after a promising start to the season.

Antony Ncube’s solitary goal made the difference as Zambezi Lions edged Corinthians in a Victoria Falls derby at Chinotimba Stadium.
On Sunday Classic Luyando and Baobab Rovers shared the spoils in a four-goal thriller.

Moffat Ncube and Lucky Ndlovu scored for Luyando while Rovers replied through Geshom Phiri and Prosper Mathe.
