Some members of the Mashonaland Central Zanu-PF provincial elections directorate yesterday rejected Vice President Joice Mujuru’s application for a Central Committee post, but she survived after a compromise was reached to leave the decision to the Politburo. While VP Mujuru survived the first hurdle in her bid to land the Central Committee post but the case was different for other provincial heavyweights like Politburo member Cde Nicholas Goche who had to run for dear life after youths prevented him from submitting his CV.

When acting provincial chairman Cde Wonder Mushange announced VP Mujuru’s name among  those who had submitted their names for consideration for the Central Committee, it was received with mixed feelings, with some saying she was no longer fit to continue serving in the party’s top organ.

“The people were saying they could no longer work with the VP considering that she is linked to the activities meant to destabilise the party,” said Cde Mushange

He said it was later decided that that considering her position, the province would leave VP Mujuru’s fate to higher authorities after she had been nominated by Mt Darwin District.
