The appointments of Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko as well as seven Cabinet ministers and one deputy minister have been gazetted.

The appointments were published in an extraordinary Government Gazette yesterday by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda.

“It’s hereby notified, for public information, that on 12 December, 2014, His Excellency the President, in terms of paragraph 14(2) of the sixth schedule of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, appointed two vice-Presidents in the first schedule,” he said.

“His Excellency also appointed, in terms of Section 104 of the said Constitution, seven ministers and deputy minister listed in the second schedule.”

The gazette’s first schedule indicates that VP Mnangagwa is also the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, while VP Mphoko is also Minister of National Healing and Reconciliation.

The second schedule confirmed the appointment of former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Cde Samuel Undenge to be Minister of Energy and Power Development, replacing Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire.

Cde Undenge will be deputised by Cde Tsitsi Muzenda whose appointment was also gazetted.

Cde Prisca Mupfumira’s appointment to the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare was also gazetted replacing Cde Nicholas Goche who was sacked.

Others whose appointments were gazetted were Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Cde Christopher Mushohwe, Minister of State for Manicaland Province Cde Mandi Chimene and Minister of State for Mashonaland East Province Cde Joel Biggie Matiza.

The appointment of former Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Cde Supa Mandiwanzira to head the Ministry of Information Communication Technology and Courier Services that was under the fired Cde Webster Shamu was also gazetted.

The other gazetted appointment was that of Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa who now heads the newly-created Ministry of Welfare Services for the War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees.

The appointment of Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, who replaced Cde Mandiwanzira as Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, was not gazetted as she is still to be sworn in.

President Mugabe axed 16 ministers and deputies, including former Vice President Joice Mujuru, for expending their time on graft, factional politics within the governing Zanu-PF and undermining, seeking to depose and/or assassinate the President.
