According to the rankings, Zimbabwe who were 104th in the world and 26th on the continental ratings slid to 106.

The 1-0 defeat to Guinea in a Group G, World Cup qualifier at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday resulted in the Warriors taking a tumble on the rankings.

During the month of May, Zimbabwe had remained on 104th position and were 24th on the Caf rankings.

Zimbabwe have accumulated 329 points during the period under review while Guinea moved just one place up.

The Syli Nationale are now ranked 67 on the world stage and 17th in Africa. The Warriors will now play Mozambique in another World Cup qualifier in Maputo this Sunday and a victory for them could help them gain some ground ahead of the next rankings.

But with Mozambique ranked below them, a win for the Warriors would have to be followed by another win against Burundi in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier if they are to be in the top 100.

Mozambique are 117th in the world and 33rd in Africa with 290 points.

Burundi beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in the first leg and are  ranked 40th in Africa and 131 in the world.

Zimbabwe’s neighbours Zambia dropped three places down to 43rd in the world following their defeat in Sudan on Sunday.

The African Champions, Zambia, are rated sixth in Africa. Chipolopolo are the only nation from Southern Africa to occupy a slot in the top 10 on the Caf rankings with South Africa, who fired their coach Pitso Mosimane, coming a distant 15th.

Cote d’Ivoire remain the best ranked African team with 943 points and the Elephants are 16th in the world.
