We made a blunder joining GNU— VP Nkomo

“we can’t sit at the same table with the enemy and pretend to be friends when we are not.”

He castigated Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Australia, Ms Jacqueline Zwambila, for declaring that there are no economic sanctions against the country.
In a recent statement fraught with errors, Ms Zwambila said the economic sanctions were only “targeted measures in the form of an asset freeze and travel ban on individuals”.

Addressing a Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Lupane yesterday, Cde Nkomo said it was disheartening that an ambassador whose mandate was to represent and champion the interests of Zimbabwe was misrepresenting facts.

“We got into this Government because we thought it was the best way forward, but obviously we were mistaken,” he said.
“We cannot keep on dining with the enemy; we can’t sit at the same table and pretend to be friends when we are not. We are strange bed fellows and the earlier we separate the better.
“It is disheartening that some people got into the inclusive Government without the intention to make it work and it is even more disheartening when an ambassador claims that there are no economic sanctions imposed on the country.
“We cannot tolerate such lies. Enough is enough!”
