WE MESSED UP, DEMBARE

DYNAMOS are not concerned about the absence of Taurai Mangwiro from the Caps United bench on Sunday. Kenny Mubaiwa, the Dynamos chairman believes that if fate was already against them, Mangwiro’s presence would not have changed that.

The Glamour Boys instead blame the situation they find themselves in on the four points they lost at home to Chapungu and Bantu Rovers. Chapungu held Dynamos to a 1-1 draw while Tshintsha Guluva tore the form book apart and forced a nil all draw.

Mangwiro and Zifa technical director Maxwell Takaendesa flew out of the country on Tuesday to attend a Fifa elite instructors’ course in Douala, Cameroon and will be back at the end of the month. Makepekepe take on table toppers ZPC Kariba in a championship decider at Gwanzura Stadium on Sunday. There is a school of thought that his departure will probably weaken Caps’ technical bench and therefore hand Saul Chaminuka’s ZPC Kariba an advantage over Dynamos.

“We’re Dynamos and they’re Caps United. We don’t have control over what happens in their house, as Dembare we concentrate on our own house. Whether Tau’s there or not shouldn’t concern us because for all we know, Caps can lose or win with Tau around,” said Mubaiwa.

“We aren’t cry babies because we played the same number of matches as everyone else and messed ourselves up along the way. We’re now looking back at the Chapungu and Bantu Rovers matches where we dropped four points, had we won those matches the issue of Mangwiro wouldn’t even be an issue today.”

The Dynamos boss said they only have themselves to blame for the situation they are in and said those querying the absence of Mangwiro were misdirecting themselves.

A Dynamos win over How Mine will be rendered inconsequential to the destination of the title if ZPC Kariba beat Caps United.

Caps United spokesperson Joyce Kapota told Chronicle Sport that Mike Madzivanyika will be in charge of the Sunday match.

“Our members of the technical bench work as a single unit and so whether Tau’s there or not, the situation is still the same. We’ve faith in the guys that are around,” she said.

Away from the Harare championship battle, crestfallen Bulawayo giants Highlanders play host to airmen Chapungu United at Hartsfield Grounds hoping to end the season on a winning note after a disastrous second half campaign.

A negative result for Highlanders will be the first time that they have failed to win their last match of the season at home since the turn of the millennium and their fourth ever during the same period. Bosso lost their last match to Shabanie Mine at Maglas Stadium 2-0 in 2011, controversially lost to a relegation facing Caps United in 2008 who beat them 4-1 in Harare and in 2005 when they fell 1-2 to Railstars.
