WHAWHA’s pedigree to make a quick return to the topflight league will once again come under scrutiny when they travel to Mandava for a date with FC Platinum U-19 tomorrow in a Zifa Central Soccer League encounter.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services outfit have been operating in fits and starts and lie 9th on the table with as many points, six adrift of log leaders Shabanie Mine.

Their lowest point was the 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Ivan Hoe last weekend before managing a 1-1 draw  against Tongogara on Africa Day.

Whawha management committee led by Musa Ntonga want a quick return into the premiership but the young platinum miners have proved to be a handful for many teams especially the so -called big guns.

FC Platinum U19 mentor, Moses Mwafulirwa said his charges are not under any pressure to deliver and are there to enjoy their game.

“We are not under any pressure because we are a developmental side and the youngsters are just there to enjoy themselves. Ours is to ensure that they graduate into the senior team therefore for us our preparation for any opposition is the same,” he said.

Among some of their giant killing acts was the 1-0 win over Shabanie Mine which was the only match the asbestos miners failed to collect maximum points.

Elsewhere, seasoned campaigners Tongogara who have not made their championship ambitions a secret welcome Jessie Mine at Battlefields as they try to play catch up with the log leaders.

The army side lie third with 12 points and a win exert pressure on Shabanie Mine who entertain Kwekwe Sables at Maglas tomorrow in what looks like a relatively easy assignment.
