AFTER a show at the Winter Festival in Gweru this Saturday night at Midlands Hotel, dancehall chanter Winky D will return to the same venue in a fortnight to commence his Gafa Tour.

Dancehall luminaries Seh Calaz, Silent Killer, Judgement Yard, Legion and DJ Fydale will join the star for the festival which will also see a few local chanters rub shoulders with dancehall royalty.

Although the high powered line up for the Winter Festival will certainly warm the hearts of revellers in the chilly Midlands town, this will not be the last time that Gweru has a dance with the Gafa.

The tour that has taken him around Zimbabwe and other countries around the globe will resume on August 11 with the Midlands Hotel once again being the Gafa’s stomping ground. Pied Piper, Jah Flint, Judah B, Ras Killer and Jnr Nana WILL join him on stage.

But before he dates fans in Gweru once again, Winky will take a detour to the City of Kings where he will take part in the Dancehall vs House Music SAMA festival next Friday. Busy Signal and Busiswa will headline a star studded extravaganza at the City Hall Car Park that will also feature Killer T, Cal Vin, DJ Mzoe, Sandra Ndebele, Mzoe7, Tocky Vibes, Seh Calaz, Madlela Skhobokhobo and DJ Liz among others.

When he returns to Gweru in a fortnight, Midlands Hotel will again be the Gafa’s stomping ground, with Pied Piper, Jah Flint, Judah B, Ras Killer and Jnr Nana joining him on stage.

Winky then wraps up the latest leg of the tour in the mining town of Zvishavane where he will perform at Caravan Park on August 12. The supporting acts for the gig will be DJ BLash, Junior T and Troopman.

According to Terminator Makoni of 2Kings Entertainment, the gigs serve as part of the company’s desire to see all corners of the country getting a chance to witness some of the Zimbabwe’s best acts live.

“Winky released one of the top projects in the country last year and there’s no doubt that he’s currently one of the hottest acts. Whether within or outside the country, the Gafa Tour has been well received and I’ve got no doubt the reception for him will be the same in Gweru and Zvishavane later on.

“This is a chance for the city to see one of the country’s finest performers in action and as 2Kings, we’re proud to facilitate such gigs,” said Makoni.

Entrance for Saturday’s gig at Midlands Hotel is $5 while the same charge will also apply for the start of the Gafa Tour at the same venue and in Zvishavane in a fortnight.
