A 15-YEAR-OLD pupil from Trenance was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital after she was allegedly stabbed by a 20-year-old woman who accused her of having an affair with her husband.

The pupil was rescued by her mother and aunt on Tuesday at around 6PM after being attacked by Thandolwenkosi Mpofu who fled from the scene.

Mpofu yesterday appeared before provincial magistrate Sibongile Marondedze facing assault charges.

She was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to January 14.

In a statement submitted to court, the pupil said Mpofu found her at home outside the house with her aunt and mother.

“She called me saying that she wanted to ask me something, so I complied,” said the pupil.

“We then exited the yard and we walked towards Troy Squatter Camp. Along the way she asked me if l knew Sibangani, who is her husband.

I told her that l know him as Bonisi’s friend.

“She accused me of having an affair with him and then pulled out a knife from her waist and stabbed me twice at the back and below my armpit.”

Prosecuting, Adelaide Chikweshe told the court that Mpofu had a misunderstanding with the pupil whom he accused of having an affair with her husband.

“Mpofu then allegedly stabbed her once at the back and once under her armpit,” said Chikweshe.

She said the pupil sustained a cut on the back and below the armpit.
