A BULAWAYO woman who sired two children with different men on Thursday dragged both men to court seeking maintenance for her children’s upkeep. Sithobekile Nkala of Lobengula West and is employed at a food court, dragged Mthulisi Moyo, also of Lobengula West and Nkosilathi Hwabayi who resides in the Central Business District to the Maintenance Court.

Magistrate Sheunesu Matova presided over the two cases separately. Nkala was demanding $188 from Hwabayi, a debt collector at Mpilo Central Hospital for her one-year 11 months old child and $80 from Moyo a taxi driver, for her five-year-old child. Hwabayi did not turn up for the hearing.

Nkala claimed Hwabayi had previously approached her and asked if he could contribute $100 towards the upkeep of the child: $50 for groceries and clothing and the other $50 for the house-keeper.

Magistrate Matova ordered Hwabayi to pay $75 per month saying Nkala should also contribute to the upkeep of the child. However, when Nkala appeared for the second time with Moyo, the taxi driver offered to pay $30 per month saying that he earns $144 per month.

Moyo asked for the custody of his child claiming he did not understand the “woman’s living conditions.”

“Your Worship, I’m a married man with two other children. I’m requesting from this honourable court if I could be given the custody of the child so that I provide for her the way I provide for my other two children because I don’t understand this woman’s living conditions,” he said.

Nkala told the court that the money Moyo was offering was too little.She added that the child needed $75 per term for school fees. However, Magistrate Matova ordered Moyo to pay $30 per month.
