THE 11 Zanu-PF Kwekwe members who were last week suspended from the party by the provincial leadership for up to five years for allegedly creating parallel structures in the district have appealed against the decision. The suspensions come at a time when the party’s National Commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere said there should be no suspensions during the 6th People’s Congress in December last year. The suspended members have since written to the Zanu-PF National Disciplinary Committee appealing against the verdict.

In one of the appeals seen by The Chronicle dated March 26, one of the members indicated that his suspension was based on assumption and not real facts on the ground as he was not called to testify during the hearings.

He said the proof of alleged parallel structures was never submitted during the hearing.

“The Christmas hamper I received from Archbishop Mugabe of Zvipozvomweya Apostolic Church was not meant for party distribution as alleged but was for my family’s consumption on Christmas day. No party youths were incited to insult senior party members who were not even mentioned in the hearing but only to find it written on my letter of suspension,” reads part of the letter.

“In conclusion, I can see that this is being done to stop me from participating in the forthcoming district elections. I am not against being tried but I expect the application of natural justice and also I am a law abiding party member who respects and upholds the values and principles of our party Zany-PF. (sic)”

Archbishop Mugabe is the secretary for finance, Dambudzo District, Kwekwe and was given a prohibition order after he gave evidence in support of the suspended party members.
