THE Zanu-PF Politburo meets in Harare today where the party is expected to make a decision on the disciplinary matter involving former secretary for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa.Party secretary for information and publicity Cde Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday confirmed today’s meeting but could not be drawn into revealing whether the fate of Cde Mutasa would be part of the agenda.

“Obviously the meeting of the Politburo is there tomorrow. Can you contact the secretary for legal affairs (Cde Patrick Chinamasa) or secretary for administration (Cde Ignatius Chombo) on the other matters you are asking about,” he said.

Efforts to get a comment from Cdes Chombo and Chinamasa were fruitless yesterday.

This paper is however, reliably informed that the party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) chaired by Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko will meet this morning before the politburo where they are expected to present recommendations on Cde Mutasa’s matter.

There is also likelihood, sources said, that the committee would also look into former Mashonaland West chairman Cde Temba Mliswa’s case after his province wrote to the Politburo recommending that he be expelled from the party

The committee includes Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Chinamasa, Secretary for the Commissariat Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, Secretary for Security Cde Kembo Mohadi, Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Grace Mugabe and Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi.

Besides Cde Mutasa’s probe, the committee, appointed by President Mugabe, will also deal with other disciplinary matters brought before it.

Cde Mutasa was deposed from his seat at the 6th National People’s Congress last year after he was accused of working with former Vice-President Joice Mujuru to illegally remove President Mugabe from power.

Since then he has been on a crusade denigrating the party, its leadership and the outcome of the congress.

He has approached Sadc and the AU with his case and is also considering taking his removal from his position to the High Court.

Mutasa’s home province of Manicaland and his Headlands constituency wrote to the Politburo recently calling for the former Presidential Affairs Minister’s expulsion from the party for a range of indiscretions that include bringing the name of the party and its leadership into disrepute, corruption, dictatorial tendencies and abuse of women and under-age girls.

President Mugabe in last week’s Politburo meeting warned Cde Mutasa against taking his grievances to the High Court, saying the affairs of the party could not be resolved outside the party constitution.
