“The Politburo emphasised the need to concentrate on party unity and the need to expend our energy on the implementation of our economic blueprint, Zim-Asset,” he said.

“The message by our First Lady which she spoke in her capacity as Secretary for the Women’s League, that we must unite and stop gossiping about each other, in other words that there should be no witchhunt and that we must concentrate on building the party and initiate policies that move the country forward and not backwards, was met with a thunderous applause from all Politburo members.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said he hoped all party members would heed the First Lady’s message and work for the improvement of people’s lives and successful implementation of party programmes.

He said party Secretary for Legal Affairs and Finance and Economic Development Minister, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, had briefed the Politburo on measures being implemented to turn around the economy.

“The Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Patrick Chinamasa, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, briefed the Politburo on the measures being taken to sustain recovery projects and these include implementation of the Zim-Asset matrix, demonetisation of the old currency (the Zimbabwe dollar) and efforts to enhance liquidity and investment, including ease of doing business,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the relevant economic ministries would provide further details on the matters raised by Cde Chinamasa.

He said national political commissar, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, gave a progress report on the ongoing party restructuring exercise.

“Cde Kasukuwere gave a progress report on the restructuring exercise which is taking place and also the campaigns which are going on in affected wards and party membership cards which are being issued concurrently,” Cde Khaya Moyo said.

He said the party was confident of winning overwhelmingly in the 16 by-elections to be held in different parts of the country on Wednesday next week.
