ZIMBABWE National Liberation War Veterans’ Association national chairman Cde Jabulani Sibanda yesterday said factionalism and corruption within Zanu-PF is undermining the revolutionary party’s ideology and values  that the people fought for during the liberation struggle.
Speaking at a war veterans association meeting held in Entumbane, Cde Sibanda said factionalism and corruption within the party should be dealt with decisively.
Cde Sibanda said there were individuals within the party who were after reversing the gains of independence.

“The revolutionary party is under siege from its own people. As war veterans we are not going to let this rot of factionalism and corruption destroy our party. This should be stopped and we demand stern measures to be taken now against individuals found to be working against the party,” said Cde Sibanda.

He said factionalism was now a threat to the nation’s revolution as Western imperialists had shifted their sponsorship from opposition parties to promoting factionalism within Zanu-PF.

“As war veterans let’s be on guard and we are saying no to factionalism and corruption. If factionalism continues unabated, we are giving the imperialists an opportunity to destroy us from within,” he said.

The war veterans’ leader said Zanu-PF leaders should direct their energies at mobilising people to participate in the development of the country instead of fighting each other.

Cde Sibanda singled out nepotism as one of the vices fuelling corruption in the country.
