ZIMBABWE Cricket have postponed all domestic cricket matches scheduled for December to allow for critical refurbishments at host venues for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 tournament.

The tournament is set to be staged in the country in March next year Harare Sports Club, Old Hararians Sports Club, Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo Athletic Club and Kwekwe Sports Club having been approved as venues.

A statement from ZC yesterday said work on the venues had to start immediately before the onset of heavy rains.

This means the Logan Cup matches pitting Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers against Midlands Rhinos and Rising Stars versus Manicaland Mountaineers that were scheduled for 12-15 December will no longer take place as originally planned.

The Pro50 Championship matches scheduled to be played from 10-18 December have also been moved.

ZC will announce new dates for the affected domestic matches in due course.

Preparations for the 10-team ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 tournament – scheduled for 2-25 March 2018 in Harare Bulawayo and Kwekwe – are already underway.

Takashinga Cricket Club in Harare and the Old Mutual Heath Streak Academy in Bulawayo will be used as practice venues.
