THE Zifa Southern Region is holding club licensing seminars for all clubs in the league and the first seminar for seven clubs from Hwange and Victoria Falls is on this morning. The second seminar covering the remaining nine clubs will be held in Bulawayo next weekend.

The regional chairman Musa Mandaza confirmed the development in a telephone interview yesterday.

“Yes we’re holding seminars for club licensing for all the clubs in the league as part of our programme to educate our clubs on the new Caf and Fifa requirements as far as administration of the game is concerned. As a second tier league in the country, we expect all the administrators of these clubs to be fully aware of the requirements which will enable them to run their clubs professionally and efficiently.

To cut on costs, we’ve mandated our board member in charge of marketing, Khumbulani Mbano, to oversee the exercise in Hwange before moving to Bulawayo. We don’t expect any hitches as we always emphasise to teams that the work of administrators starts the day the season ends up to the day we kick off the next,” said Mandaza.

Mpumalanga FC, Trumus, ZPC Hwange, Technosphere, Hwange Under-20 and debutants Makomo and Amagagasi will attend today’s workshop.

Mbano confirmed that all is set for the seminars.

“We’re now ready for this event. All the clubs have been notified and have been told to bring three officials who are in the executive not from the technical set up. After this we will move to Bulawayo to complete the exercise,” he said.

Teams to take part in Bulawayo are Old Nic, Ntabazinduna, Elephant FC, New West City, Quelaton, Blackboots, Plumtree Chiefs and the newly promoted sides Bulawayo City Council and Emakhandeni Pirates.

The league will hold its annual general meeting on February 21, in Bulawayo before the season kicks off.
