THE Zifa Southern Region is owed close to $30,000 in affiliation, licences and fines by clubs, some of which are still in existence while others are now defunct with inside sources saying an urgent meeting of the Musa Mandaza led board has been called for over the Easter Holidays. The sources did not rule out Mandaza and his board agreeing to unleash debt collectors in an effort to recover their money, with some clubs owing as much as $4,000.

According to a debtors and creditors list leaked to Chronicle Sport, the debts are from the period December 31, 2010 to December 31, 2013, with the accompanying note to clubs showing the document was written on February 20 this year.

“At the 2014 annual general  meeting, members resolved that the treasurer furnishes information on outstanding debtors and creditors backdating to 2010. Find attached the schedules. Please note that none of the outstanding amounts have been paid,” said the email.

Now perennial campaigners in the lower league, 1988 Super League champions Zimbabwe Saints, according to the list, owe Zifa a total of $2,000 with $1, 000 being fines imposed on them and the other half being licence fees.

Their secretary Jabulani Chinyangarara was one of the elected office bearers during the February elections.

Ajax Hostpurs owe $1,500 in licence fees. New West City, owned by another board member Tumediso “Drogba” Mokoena owes $195 in licence fees with Quelaton, owned by former regional treasurer who lost in his bid to be the vice chairman Tawanda Ruzive owing $222. The region, however, also owes Bulawayo City Council, TelOne and an impressions company a combined figure of $7,056.

Contacted for comment, Bryton Malandule who handles the region’s finances at the moment as the new Zifa Constitution has done away with portfolios, declined to comment on measures to be taken to recover the money but confirmed the impending Easter Holidays meeting.

“Get back to me after the holidays, for now I will not say anything, thank you,” said the former referee.
