Because of the largely bureaucratic nature of contemporary businesses and organisations, the application of proper concepts of organisational leadership are said to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation’s standing.

This Leadership Summit 2010, which is being organised in conjunction with local human resources consulting firm — Industrial Psychology Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd.

The summit is running under the theme: The art of leadership and its impact on organisational success (Success stories from elsewhere).

Speaking to the Herald Business recently, Industrial Psychology Consultants (Pvt) Ltd managing consultant, Memory Nguwi gave an account of the keynote speaker.

“Dr Stephen Covey has consulted with chief executive officers, political leaders, heads of state, as well as with managers and employees at literally thousands of organisations. Many Fortune 500 and 100 companies have adopted his innovative leadership and management techniques within their organisations. His work has also influenced countless individuals who have integrated his ideas into their personal lives.

“In 1996, Dr Covey was recognised as one of Time magazine’s 25 most influential Americans and one of Sales and Marketing Management magazine’s top 25 power brokers,” he said.

Dr Covey is the author of acclaimed books, including the international best seller, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which has sold more than 20 million copies in 38 languages throughout the world.

Other best sellers authored by Dr Covey include First Things First, Principle-Centred Leadership, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, and The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness.

Dr Covey’s organisational legacy to the world is Covey Leadership Centre. On May 30, 1997, a merger of Covey Leadership Centre with Franklin Quest created Franklin Covey Company.
