GOVERNMENT will not accept aid from countries or organisations pushing for the acceptance of gays and lesbian marriages in Zimbabwe, President Robert Mugabe has said. Speaking at the 30th 21st February Movement celebrations in Masvingo on Saturday, President Mugabe said any aid with conditionalities of acceptance of gays was filthy and would be rejected.

“If aid is to be given on the basis that we accept the principles of gay marriages, let the aid stay where it is, it’s rotten, filthy aid and shouldn’t come to our country anyway,” said President Mugabe.

He bemoaned the agricultural season which he said had been affected by climate change but assured the nation that the government was mobilising enough resources to alleviate hunger.

“It’s been a bad year for us from the point of view of climate and our agricultural season hasn’t gone that well. So we’re having to ask for help for maize and other forms of grain,” said President Mugabe.

The President said all logistics for the importation and distribution of food were in place and transportation was the only sticking challenge. Cde Mugabe said no one should die of hunger and that the disabled and the elderly must be prioritised as they did not have the means to fend for themselves.

He said there was still need for more funding in order to guarantee adequate food.

On youth issues, the President castigated child abusers saying stiffer sentences had failed to deter offenders. “What sex impulse is that that get you to see a little child? I’ve failed to understand what it is that gets these people to commit these abuses of children,” Cde Mugabe said.

He said there might be need to cut the male’s sexual organ in the same away Arabs cut a thief’s hand. “If you still want to abuse a child, I think it must be cut off,” said President Mugabe.
