ZIMBABWE cricket team Takashinga XI will clash with Uganda A in the opening match of their tour of Uganda at Lugogo Stadium in Kampala today. Takashinga have a number of national team players.

They will be led by Zimbabwe national team coach Stephen Mangongo and national selection panel member, Givemore Makoni.

Following a disastrous tour of Bangladesh where the team lost Test matches and limited overs, Mangongo will be hoping for a change of fortunes.

The players who are part of the national team too need a fresh break to re-discover themselves.

Some of the stars of the club are members of the provisional cricket team that will represent Zimbabwe in the World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand.

Topping the list of experienced players in the touring party is former national side captain Prosper Utseya, a veteran of 160 ODIs and four Tests, Tinashe Panyangara, Test wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva and Stuart Matsikenyeri.

Takashinga will play five limited overs matches against a Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) Chairman’s XI (basically their national team) and an Emerging XI.

The Ugandans are using the games to prepare for the ICC Division II qualifiers set for next month.
