THE Zimbabwe Golf Association has released their 2015 calendar that promises to be a busy one with 38 national competitions and one international.The Zone Six Championships have tentatively been set for April 13-19 in Uganda. They start a day after the end of the Zimbabwe Open which would have teed off on April 6 in the capital.

August will prove to be the busiest month, with five tournaments on the cards.

Some of the national competitions will be played on the Matabeleland Golf Society courses, with the first tournament of the year, the historic Dugmore Trophy already hosted. It was held at the country’s oldest golf course, the Bulawayo Golf Club with Vincent Scott bullying his way into a 16-shot victory.

The rising golf star, playing off a handicap of minus two, carded rounds of 64, 66, 69 and 68 for a 21-under par 275 total.

On second position was Justin Kersten on five-under par 287, having shot rounds of 67, 74, 74 and 68 while Visitor Mapwanya was a shot back in third place on four-under par 284 after posting rounds of 71, 74, 73 and 66.

The second national tournament, the Julius Robinson, teed off at Wingate yesterday and ends tomorrow. Venue for the Filande tourney is yet to be confirmed but it tees off on February 22 and ends two days later.

The Joshua Nkomo Classic, likely to be held in Bulawayo or Victoria Falls, will be held from July 17 to 19 with the next major tournament, the Elephant Hills Open, coming a month later, August 28 to 30. The Chaferlfy Enterprise bankrolled four day Hwange Open has been set for October 1 to 4.
