TOURISTS visiting Victoria Falls will no longer be bored as they will now be spoilt for choice with the addition of new state-of-the-art outlets, ZimCafe Pub & Grill and Shearwater Corner Cafe.

ZimCafe, headquartered in Harare, recently spread its wings to the resort town and is expected to launch next month. The director of

ZimCafe, Isaac Neshamba said the pub which was initially meant to be launched last week by Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Walter Mzembi, would now be launched next month.

“An official opening is scheduled for next month where guests including international visitors will be treated to good music and food.

“Minister Mzembi has toured the hangout to have a feel of what the joint is all about and we’re now raring to go,” Neshamba said.

Taking the space which was used by the now dysfunctional ZiPub at Zambezi Centre, the new hangout is expected to equal the standards of the Harare pub which has excellent cuisines and quality entertainment. Neshamba said while competition was stiff in the resort town, ZimCafe had a unique dining experience which tourists and visitors would find irresistible. Breakfast as well as their signature traditional dishes will be served daily.

“The Victoria Falls hangout is for mature crowds as we will not allow patrons under the age of 21. It’s an up-market pub which is spacious to ensure that diners and revellers enjoy themselves freely.

“We did our survey and found out that a lot of hangouts in the city lacked quality entertainment so we’ll from time to time have live performances and also host top DJs from Star FM, Power FM and ZiFM,” Neshamba said.

Adding onto the glitz in the resort town, Shearwater last year opened an outdoor café which is ideal for walk in tourists.

“The restaurant was opened in August last year after we noticed that the European menu offered in first world countries was not readily available in Vic Falls, except for hotels as most restaurants prefer serving traditional meals.

“It’s strategically positioned in the CBD because most tourists who visit the Falls do not drive and walk to different spots,” Shearwater public relations manager Clement Mukwasi said.

He said there had been a good response, showing that tourists were in need of such a product.

“The response from international tourists has been overwhelming, because even when business is low elsewhere, you find the café being patronised by the small numbers who will have visited the town,”
