THE year 2014 saw the largest number of Zimdancehall artistes coming to the city of Queens and Kings for shows more than any other genre in the country.Bulawayo which is the hub of house music in the country seems to have fallen in love with the genre hence the increase of the Zimdancehall in the city.

Promoters in the city are enjoying the popularity of the genre as it means more fans attend their shows resulting in them recording huge profits.

From the beginning of the year, artistes including Shinsoman, Yoz, Spiderman, Platinum Prince, Sniper, DJ Smiley and the Legendary Sounds and Judgment Yard made a number of visits to Bulawayo.

Horizon entertainment manager Mduduzi Mdlongwa of 3D events said  Zimdancehall music was popular and as such shows attracted huge crowds which meant money for organizers.

“As showbiz managers we make sure that people get what they want so that they can turnout in their numbers and we make money.
Club Forty-40 entertainment manager DJ Mzoe said the number of Zimdancehall artistes that visited the city was a confirmation of the genre’s popularity.

“People have fallen in love with Zimdancehall and we really wanted to give people the type of music they want as this is good for business,” he said.

Hustlers Leisure Centre entertainment manager Simon Gama said the Zimdancehall music had become so popular in Bulawayo and many show organisers were after artistes playing the type of music.

“As promoters we strive to look for what is appealing to our audience.

It is without doubt that Zimdancehall this year proved to be the most sought after genre not only in Bulawayo but the whole country. All the shows that we did this year that had Zimdancehall artistes performing had a high turnout and the profit was good,” he said.
