ZIMPAPERS’ group business development and marketing director, Tapuwa Mandimutsira, has been elected president of the Marketing Association of Zimbabwe, a body of marketers from all companies and businesses in the country.
A holder of a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Studies Honours Degree in Marketing, Mandimutsira brings in vast experience to the seven year old organisation, as he has been with Zimpapers for more than 10 years.

He was elected at the close of the 6th annual marketers’ convention in Victoria Falls at the weekend, taking over from businesswoman, Ruth Ncube, who completed her two year-term.

For the next two years, Mandimutsira will be leading a five-member board to run the affairs of MAZ-whose membership is more than 300.

In his maiden speech, Mandimutsira encouraged members of the profession to be passionate and add value to the country’s economic activities.

Other new board members are SAZ secretary general, Gilian Rusike, Odiline Kava of Nicoz Diamond, Tichaona Gandanhamo (EcoBank), Willard Nyakwade (Powertel) and Juliet Sizwa from Unilever.

The outgoing board comprised president Ncube, managing director of First Mutual, Trust Chikohore, director of Platinum Construction and Toverengwa Manene.

Ncube said Zimbabwe had the right crop of marketers to propel the country forward, through innovation in branding the country.
She said marketers were key to economic development and urged members to be involved in policy making.
