THE Zimpapers initiative to help Tsholotsho flood victims has received a positive response from Gweru residents who have since donated clothes and blankets for the victims.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Criminal Investigations Department Women’s Network from Gweru District donated eight boxes of clothes and blankets.A local resident who declined to be named also donated a bale of clothes.

Zimpapers is among organisations and companies that have taken the initiative to assist in mobilising resources for flood victims in both Tsholotsho and those affected by the flooding of Tokwe-Mukosi Dam basin in Masvingo.

The company apart from receiving the donations, also assists in transporting the donated goods to the victims. Handing over the donation, CID Gweru Women’s Network Chairperson, Detective Assistant Inspector Violet Vurepi-Siwela said her organisation was committed to assisting vulnerable members of society.

“One of our key focus is to give back to the community we live in and to help as much as we can all those who are in need,” she said.
Det Asst Insp Vurepi-Siwela said the two disasters hit at a time when their network had already come up with the action plan for the year.
Said Insp. Vurepi-Siwela:

“After we heard of the flood disasters through our local media we met and resolved that members’ families should donate second hand clothes and blankets,” she said.
