Zimbabwe Open University on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Internal Auditors and Southern Africa Association of Accountants.
Speaking at the ceremony, ZOU Vice Chancellor Dr Primrose Kurasha said the development would help in the nation’s human capital development.
“The MoU we gather here for is a culmination of lots of effort from like minds coming from varied backgrounds but working together with the same persuasion, passion and purpose for the growth and development of the auditing and accounting profession in particular and indeed the nation at large.
“It is my sincere belief that what we are about to give birth here, through this MoU, will positively affect infinite generations to come,” she said.
Dr Kurasha said partnering with institutions such as IIA and SAAA propels the university to become a world-class open and distance learning university.
Speaking at the same occasion, IIA, vice president Mr Munyaradzi Tachiona said, the relationship would help them to produce the much-needed auditors for the country.
SAAA president Mr Kudakwashe Makiwa said the partnership would help their students to advance their studies.
“As ZOU is all over the country, our students who are even in the rural areas would take advantage of the relationship we have made today,” he said.
