PERENNIAL Southern Region Division One League campaigners ZPC Hwange were the weekend’s biggest scorers after bashing army side Indlovu Iyanyathela 4-0.

A brace by Keith Mavinga as well as goals from Peter Ghani and Morgen Nyoni propelled the electricity generators to maximum points.

The weekend win saw ZPC Hwange, who are second on the table with 24 points from 12 games, reducing Bulawayo Chiefs’ lead to 13 points.

Chiefs, who were inactive, are on 37 points from 13 matches and should ZPC Hwange win their next game against ZRP Bulawayo, the power men would end the first half of the season trailing the championship favourites by 10 points.

Muziwakhe Dlamini’s strike powered Bosso 90 to their sixth victory of the season, as they edged table anchors Victoria Falls Tigers 1-0.

Bosso 90 are third on the table with 23 points from 13 outings.

Bosso 90 coach Melusi Sibanda was happy with his side’s feat and indicated that they would give some game time to Under-18 players in the second half of the season.

“I’m happy that the boys have finished the first half of the season strongly, which is good for the club. Remember, most of these players are Under-20 and once we open slots after sending some of the players into the first team, we will start giving Under-18s game time. In as far as the club’s development programme with this squad is concerned, I think we are on track,” said Sibanda.

A player likely to be promoted into Highlanders’ first team is left-back Mbongeni Ndlovu, brother to ex-Bosso captain Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu, who is an assistant coach at How Mine.

Mbongeni (19), a consistent performer in the First Division, will deputise Honest Moyo in the senior team.

Besides Mbongeni, some of the players that have been playing well for Bosso 90 and are all Under-20 include midfielders Brian Jaravaza, Xolani Mdlongwa, Thabo Lunga and Dhlamini, the team’s leading scorer with seven goals.

Police side ZRP Bulawayo extended their winless streak to eight games when they lost 1-2 to league debutants Zim Leopards.

ZRP Bulawayo’s last victory was on May 13 when they beat Chiwororo 2-1.

Leopards got their goals from Kudzai Chipudza and Tambudzai Ngulube, while the police side got their consolation from Alois Gwanzura.

Liberty Sithole and Morgan Chingombe were on target for Chiwororo, who beat Black Boots, while Casmyn were held to a goalless draw by Mosi Rovers, with Amagagasi sharing the spoils with Makomo in a 1-1 draw.
