POWER generators ZPC Munyati will be hoping to salvage their faltering championship campaign when they lock horns with Chrome Stars in a grudge Zifa Central Soccer League encounter. After going on a 10-match unbeaten run and having opened a four-point lead at the top of the log standings, it was Chrome Stars who burst the ZPC Munyati bubble following a 1-0 win in their own backyard.

That loss saw the power generators’ campaign go off the rails and head coach Rutherford Matondo believes tomorrow’s game could be the turning point.

“We still have 10 matches to go and anyone can rule us out at their own peril. It’s a fact that we’ve been going through a bad patch but I believe our game against Chrome Stars will be the turning point,” said Matondo.

“We’re not far off from the log leaders and if we start to win all our matches going forward, anything can happen and we might eventually win promotion,” he said.

Munyati lie fourth with 32 points from 19 games, 12 points adrift of runaway log leaders Border Strikers, who have opened a four-point lead at the top of the league table.

Chrome Stars had a good start to the season but now find themselves in the doldrums on 25 points from 19 games.

Coach Yolam Ngwira was equally upbeat of notching a victory.

“Our target is to finish among the top eight and we are not happy with our position on the log. The only way we can move up is to start winning our games,” said Ngwira.
