Championships teams, enabling the association to host the tournament at short notice.
The tournament will be staged at Rufaro and Gwanzura from July 2 to July 9.
But thanks to ZTA, Zifa will now be able to cater for all the eight teams after the tourism authority agreed to pay for the hotels and food that will be used by the team.
The partnership was formalised at a function at the ZTA offices yesterday morning where the tourism body’s chief executive Karikoga Kaseke and Zifa board member finance Elliot Kasu officiated.
Zifa later then unveiled a high powered local organising committee that will run the competition that is headed by Hwange Colliery Managing Director Fred Moyo and industrialist and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority board chairperson Marah Hativagone.
Kasu will be vice chairman responsible for administration while Zifa vice president Ndumiso Gumede will be chairperson technical.
Six general managers – including women’s football vice-chairperson Cecilia Malunga – would be responsible for competition portfolio while fellow women board member Rosemary Kanonge would be responsible for finance and administration.
ZTA Givemore Chidzidzi will head the marketing portfolio deputised by banker Desmond Ali.
Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze will head the events and ceremonies portfolio and will be deputised by Premier Soccer League chief executive Kenny Ndebele.
The Media and Information Publicity portfolio will be headed by Major Mutambudzi and would be assisted by Swaz chairman Admire Taderera.
Zifa president Cuthbert Dube promised that his association would be transparent and accountable with their incomes and expenditures.
“We had to agree to host this important tournament at a short notice because we belong to the 14-member-group. It is an honour for Zimbabwe.
“There are some residues that will benefit the country and for us to say no it would have been unwise.
“We have done it already in the past. Not only have we done it but successfully.
“We would like this whole thing to be as transparent as possible. We will publish incomes and expenditures in all the newspapers. We would like to be transparent and accountable.
“There have been some problems I must admit.
“I would like to thank Cosafa for showing confidence in our country. Let us come to Rufaro and Gwanzura in our tens of thousands,” said Dube.
Some car rental companies have also offered Zifa their vehicles at a minimal fee while a local bus operator, which has supported the Mighty Warriors, has pledged more buses to ferry the teams.
A local beverage company has already donated water and refreshments for the games.
Meanwhile, referees from various countries started trooping in yesterday ahead of the Women’s’ Referees Course that will be conducted by Fifa starting today until the eve of the games.
Cosafa Operations Officer Sue Destombes was also expected to arrive last night.
