WHILE the glitz and glamour of the Zvishavane derby has somehow faded following the relegation of Shabanie Mine from the topflight league, the rivalry and the tension between the Chinda Boys and FC Platinum still exists.

Battle lines have been drawn as Shabanie Mine faces FC Platinum Under 19, a developmental side of the platinum miners, in a Zifa Central Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium tomorrow.

If the mind games presently playing out in the mining town are anything to go by, then a full house is expected at Mandava.

The platinum miners have already barred their coach Moses Mwafulirwa from granting interviews to the Press while a strict curfew has been imposed on Shabanie Mine players ahead of tomorrow’s game.

FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo was bullish yesterday saying they expected nothing short of maximum points.

The young platinum miners have just managed 12 points in 10 games and lie 11th on the log.

For Shabanie Mine fans, a loss to the young platinum miners would equate to an abomination since losing to the junior is unpardonable.

Chinda Boys coach Arnold Jani is aware of the impact of the game.

A win for the asbestos miners will place them back among the title chasing pack.

Shabanie Mine lies sixth on the league table with 20 points, four adrift of log leaders ZPC Munyati.
