A HWANGE man has been sentenced to the mandatory 10 years in jail for stealing electric cables from a Hwange Colliery Company supply line.

 Herbert Nyoni aged 34 of Makwika Village in Hwange who is employed as a general hand at a local company committed the crime with an alleged accomplice, David Gumbo, who is still at large.

Nyoni was charged with contravening Section 60A(3)(b) of the Electricity Amendment Act 2007 which criminalises cutting, damaging, destroying or interfering with any apparatus for generating, distribution or supply of electricity.—@ncubeleon
