13 more Covid-19 deaths recorded

THE country has reported 13 more Covid-19 related deaths and 156 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of cases to 34 587.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 173 from 197 on Friday.

All the 156 new cases are local transmissions.

So far, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe now stands at 1 316 while the national recovery rate stands at 82 percent.

A total of 2 086 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and positivity was 7,5 percent.

As of Friday, at 3PM, there were 90 hospitalised people of which six patients were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 63 had mild to moderate symptoms.

Seventeen had severe symptoms while four asymptomatic. Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Arundel Hospital did not report.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the highest number of 77 cases was reported in Manicaland followed by Harare and the Midlands with 26 cases each.

Bulawayo recorded 26 new cases while Mashonaland Central had six new cases. Bulawayo recorded 13 new infections while the Midlands has eight new cases.

Mashonaland East recorded three new cases with Matabeleland North and Masvingo recording one case each. No cases were reported in Matabeleland South and Mashonaland West.

“As of February 6, 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 34 487 confirmed cases, 28 383 recoveries and 1 316 deaths,” reads the statement.

“Two hundred and thirty-eight new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 82 percent and active case go down to 4 788 today.”

So far, Bulawayo province has recorded 5 021 cases 4 422 recoveries, 405 active cases and 194 deaths and Matabeleland South province has recorded 2 099 cases, 1 968 recoveries, 114 active cases and 17 deaths, while Matabeleland North has 1 192 cases, 660 recoveries, 519 active cases and 13 deaths.
