13 more Covid-19 related deaths recorded

THE country has reported 13 more Covid-19 related deaths and 106 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of cases to 34 658

The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 158 from 166 on Sunday.

All the 106 new cases are local transmissions.

So far, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe now stands at 1 339 while the national recovery rate stands at 83,2 percent.

A total of 2 557 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and positivity was 4,1 percent.

As of February 7, 2021, at 3PM, there were 166 hospitalised people of which 12 patients were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 98 had mild to moderate symptoms. Forty-two had severe symptoms while 14 were asymptomatic.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the highest number of 40 cases was reported in Harare followed by Manicaland with 22 cases.

Mashonaland East recorded 10 new cases while Bulawayo, Mashonaland West and the Midlands had seven new cases each. Masvingo recorded three new infections while Matabeleland South had two cases with Matabeleland North recording one case.

“As of February 8, 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 34 658 confirmed cases, 28 825 recoveries and 1 339 deaths,” reads the statement.

“Two hundred and seventy-four new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 83,2 percent and active case go down to 4 494 today.”
