But now since you have been set free from sin and have become the slaves of God, you have your present reward in holiness and its end is eternal life. (AMP)
JESUS was the only one who truly knew the woman in Luke 13. He touched her and healed her. He unleashed the potential that had been bound up for eighteen years. He can do the same for you. You can accomplish anything once you have been called to Jesus. From that moment on, you become invincible. The enemy, however, would love to destroy you. He will try anything. He will use your own words against you; you may have been defeated by the power of what you’ve said. He will use your strength against you; you may have twisted your own back.
The enemy has pitted you against you until you have believed you are crippled. Reverse his plan. If you had enough force to bend yourself over, you have enough force to straighten yourself back up. The Lord told this woman the truth about herself. He told her that she was loosed and set free. He saw the truth in spite of what everyone else saw. The religious critics didn’t like what Jesus had done. His power revealed the powerlessness of their religion. They accused Him of breaking the law by performing a miracle on the Sabbath day.
Jesus exposed their hypocrisy by using an everyday occurrence to illustrate His point. Since they all valued their livestock, which one of them would not release his donkey on the Sabbath so it could get a drink? Surely this woman was more valuable than any animal. She could be freed from her pain and sickness, no matter what day it was. Pain can become too familiar. Ungodly relationships can become familiar. Change doesn’t come easily. Habits are hard to break. It is often more comfortable to hang on to old habits than to let them go, because you’re afraid of change. When you begin to see yourself as Jesus sees you, you will master the courage to break away, He is your defense. He will defend you before your critics. Now is the time for you to focus on receiving the miraculous and getting the water you could not reach before.
