A 39-YEAR-OLD man from Muchena Village, Manicaland Province has been arrested after being involved in an accident while driving without a license.
According to the Zimbabwe Road Traffic Act, driving without a license is an offense.
In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Desmond Dhavengwa appeared in Karoi court for breaking two traffic rules. Firstly, he drove a car without a valid driver’s license. Secondly, he drove carelessly, putting himself and others at risk.

“On the 20th of June 2024 at 1500 hours the accused person who was driving a Nissan Hardbody along Karoi- Nyamambizi road with two passengers on board encroached onto the oncoming traffic lane at a curve resulting in a head on collision with a Mazda B2500. The Mazda B2500 had three passengers on board. Two people were injured as a result of the accident. Investigations by the Police revealed that the accused person was not a holder of a Driver’s License.”
“The accused person was convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of US$100 for count 1, in default, 30 days imprisonment. He was sentenced to a fine of US$200 for count 2, in default 30 days imprisonment”, said the NPAZ.
