THE Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has launched an investigation into a case of alleged misconduct by Tendy Three Investments (TTI) traffic enforcers, who reportedly inhumanely clamped the vehicle of a motorist who was trying to catch his breath, as he was feeling faint.

The motorist, according to reports suffers from diabetes and had his vehicle clamped by TTI, when he reportedly temporarily stopped at a no parking zone along Samuel Parirenyatwa Street, as he was feeling dizzy and feared that he would cause an accident.

The incident, which has since stirred a hornet’s nest, with calls of the revocation of the parking management authority’s contract with BCC, garnered a prompt response from Bulawayo mayor Councillor David Coltart, who said their behaviour and actions are unacceptable.

In a post on X, Cllr Coltart said he has engaged with Bulawayo town clerk Mr Christopher Dube over the matter.

“This is unacceptable conduct by whoever is responsible. I met with the town clerk yesterday and I have asked him to investigate this issue. If these allegations are found to be correct then those responsible must be held accountable,” said Cllr Coltart.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, along Samuel Parirenyatwa Street.

“I stopped my car close to CZI because I wasn’t feeling so good and I would have caused an accident. The engine was still running, meaning I had no intention of being there. I called a friend to come assist me as I am diabetic.”

“TTI came and clamped me. I tried to explain myself to them, but they were adamant. We exchanged words, and I collapsed. These guys went on to verbally abuse me and didn’t even call an ambulance for me, yet I had told them I was diabetic and wasn’t feeling well. They just stood by, verbally abusing me. My friend got there 6 to 10 minutes later with no one assisting me. Thanks to a nurse passing by who rendered assistance,” said the victim.
