HARARE, Zimbabwe– This afternoon, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is leading the Zimbabwe Local Government Association’s “All Councillors Indaba” at a hotel in Harare.
The event, themed “Strengthening Local Authority Systems for Vision 2030: No Compromise to Service Delivery,” aims to address critical issues facing local governance and service delivery across the nation.
The Indaba brings together councillors from various local authorities, Government officials, and stakeholders in the local governance sector.
It seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration to enhance the capacity of local authorities as Zimbabwe works towards achieving Vision 2030, which aims for an upper middle-income economy.
Zimbabwe Local Government Association (ZLGA) has been instrumental in advocating for improved governance and service delivery at the local level.
With local authorities facing numerous challenges, including resource constraints and infrastructural deficits, the Indaba serves as a platform for councillors to share experiences, best practices, and strategies to improve community engagement and service provision.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening local authority systems, improving transparency, and ensuring that service delivery is not compromised as the nation strives for economic growth and development.
Participants will also explore innovative solutions to existing challenges, aiming to create a robust framework that supports local authorities in meeting the needs of their constituents effectively.
As the Indaba unfolds, it is anticipated that actionable strategies will emerge to propel Zimbabwe towards its ambitious Vision 2030 goals.
