The much-anticipated Dr Gasolo Walkathon, rescheduled from August 8, kicks off tomorrow.
The walk will span three days, starting from Ematshetsheni, passing through Gwanda, and concluding in Bulawayo. Now in its third edition, the walkathon aims to promote the creative sector while raising awareness about the dangers of drug and substance abuse.
On the first day, Dr Gasolo will walk from Ematshetsheni to Gwanda town, where he will spend the night. He will continue his journey from Gwanda to rest at Esigodini the following day. The final leg of the walkathon will take him from Esigodini to Bulawayo, where a major celebration will be held at Enkundleni of Black Umfolosi in Entumbane on Saturday.
Speaking from Gwanda, Dr Gasolo expressed his excitement and readiness for the event.
“I’m 100% prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’m in Gwanda on my way to Matshetsheni. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, I won’t be able to donate the sewing machines in Matshetsheni as initially planned,” he said.
Dr Gasolo outlined his itinerary, adding, “My first stop tomorrow will be at Crossroads in Tiwi, where I’ll interact with the villagers. From there, I’ll head straight to Gwanda town, where we anticipate some celebrations as we aim to elevate the creative sector and continue our fight against drug abuse.” – @mthabisi_mthire
