A MARRIED Christ Wonders Ministries Church pastor in Bulawayo allegedly raped and impregnated a 17-year-old congregant who had gone to his house to be delivered from evil spirits.

Busani Dube (41) allegedly told the girl that her problems would vanish if she had sex with him. He also warned her against divulging the information to anyone saying if she does so she would die.

Dube was yesterday not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Adelaide Mbeure.

He was remanded to 14 December on $100 bail.

Prosecuting, Mr Tawurai Hondoyemoto said the minor went to stay with the pastor in April last year so she could be delivered from evil spirits.

Mr Hondoyemoto said in May Dube followed the girl into the spare bedroom where she slept and told her that her problems would end if they had sex.

“He told her that she would die if she revealed this to anyone. Dube went on to have sex with the complainant and she kept it to herself fearing death,” he said.

Dube thereafter allegedly had sexual intercourse with the girl on several occasions, the court heard.

In September last year the juvenile discovered that she was pregnant.

“The same month Dube’s wife sent a message to the minor’s mother telling her to take her home as she had been delivered from evil spirits,” said Mr Hondoyemoto.

The court heard that the matter came to light in December when the girl‘s mother saw her vomiting and she revealed that she had been raped by Dube.

Mr Hondoyemoto said the mother took the complainant to Dube’s house and he admitted that he raped her but said he committed the crime while possessed by evil spirits.

He promised to give the minor some money to terminate the pregnancy but never fulfilled the promise until the juvenile gave birth in June this year, the court heard.
