IN yet another big victory for the newly crowned champions, Arenel Movers managed to squeeze past a stubborn Talen Vision side at White City Stadium on Saturday.
A solitary second half goal from Chilumbiya Mkuli was enough to hand Kudzai Mhandire’s men a hard fought victory against Golding Dube’s team in what was a tight encounter.
With one match remaining, Arenel remain unbeaten and still hold the best defensive record as they have only conceded four goals.
With the financial troubles that the club has been facing, it has been an excellent run for the league champions who were the first team in all regions to gain promotion to top flight football next season.
Week 33 action started on Friday with Bosso90 losing 2-1 to Jordan Sinnott in an entertaining clash at White City’s B Arena.
Jordan has now opened a four point gap ahead of Bosso’s develop-mental side who would have pipped the side from Filabusi to seventh position.
ZPC Hwange have returned to second position afte Talen Vision lost their match. They beat Indlovu Iyanyathela 1-0 at Saints Club.
There was drama in a match between Ciwu and DRC United. DRC players refused to continue with the game after they did not agree with the referee’s decision to hand the home side a penalty. It then resulted in Ciwu being handed a 3-0 win.
Philani “Beefy” Ncube’s Adachi, who are expected to be one of the title chasing sides next season, were probably overwhelmed by their first season in the tough league. With the experience in the side, it is clear that they will be one of the teams to watch next year. They were looking to finish their season strong against Ratanang. They will be disappointed with conceding two goals against a Ratanang side which has had a disappointing season, but will also take heart from the fact that they won the match 3-2.
Binga Pirates and Mosi Rovers played out to a 1-1 draw in what was a Matabeleland North derby.
League matches will conclude this weekend.
