THE reigning Bulawayo king of hip-hop, Asaph, is billed to perform at the Midlands State University welcome back party slated for Pabloz Club in Gweru tonight.

Asaph alongside Harare wordsmith Tehn Diamond and multi-award winning female rapper Kikky Badass will be the main acts for tonight’s gig organised by Changamire hip-hop Festival Events and Unruly Entertainment.

The musician, who declared himself as “Mambo” of the Bulawayo hip-hop scene after scooping the Best hip-hop Act at this year’s Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (RoilBAA), revealed that he is ready to set Gweru ablaze tonight.

“This has been a great year. I’ve performed in different places around the country but it’ll be my first time to grace Gweru so this event is special,” said Asaph.

Tehn Diamond, who is the face of multi-award winning crew Few Kings, said he was excited to be performing in the city of progress. “Gweru has become my second home city as I always perform here. However, tonight’s gig is different as I’ll be performing alongside the country’s best and respected hip hop artistees Asaph and Kikky which makes the show one of the best in the country in as far as hip hop is concerned,” said Tehn Diamond.

The organiser of the show and founder of the Changamire Hip-hop Festival, Zimboy Jackson, said the stage was set for tonight. “The artistes performing will arrive in Gweru in the afternoon and will do a meet and greet tour at the Midlands State University. This will afford students a chance to meet them before their performances later,” said Zimboy.

Other artistes who will perform tonight include Hyper, Lee Ivy, AFP Band and Munya Unruly.

DJs Patch, Blesh and OBZ will be on the decks. Entry has been pegged at $5 with the VIP section costing $10. Ladies will be allowed into the venue for free.
